Spring Season!

Dear Troop 684 families,

Welcome to spring season for Boy Scouts, which means camping, volunteering and advancing. This email contains a ton of information to keep you up to date with all things Troop 684. Please read all the way through and respond back timely.

Camping – our first camping trip of the season will be May 19-20 at Greifensee.  Permission slip attached, all the details are contained on slip. If possible, can you please let me know by tomorrow if your Scout can attend. Or else as soon as possible?  Permission slips are due next Wednesday and 50 Fr. can be deposited directly to the Troop account. Adults responsible for planning and executing this trip are Julie Ramsay and James Sims (thank you!!).  We are also luck that an Eagle Scout alumni, Andrew Schupp, will also be camping with the boys.  Any questions about this camping trip, please contact Julie or James.  Their contact info in on the attached flyer.

Our second camping trip will be June 9-11. Please note on your calendar. Details to follow.

    – This will be our last regular meeting before the summer break.

A few parents have asked for me to resend the link to the new requirements.  If your Scout is using an older Scout book, they need to print these pages out and tape them in.  They do not need to redo any previous ranks.  But every rank has a new sheet, so start with the rank your Scout is currently working on and add in the new pages for that rank and all the following ranks.  http://www.scouting.org/filestore/boyscouts/pdf/524-012_BS_Requirements_Insert.pdf
Scouts do not need to redo any rank requirements, but we must be able to transfer the requirements they have completed onto the new pages.  I’m really hoping that a lot of Scouts will choose to work on their missing requirements, and they will all set a goal of advancing at the next Court of Honor.  But as there is only 7 weeks before that date, they really need to get themselves sorted out now.

Our Webmaster, George Ramsay, has done a great job of keeping our Troop website up to date.  You can check it out here:  troop684.ch.  Soon there will be photos and a short article posted about our recent trip to Normandy, France.

Yours In Scouting,
